Psychology Ebooks

This book is a comprehensive, step-by-step walk through the application process from thinking about going to grad school to accepting and declining offers (and what to do if you don't get in). It has checklists for choosing schools, one for each application you send in, and one to help in getting strong letters of recommendation. I would recommend this text to anyone applying to a graduate program in psych but would also encourage you to pick up supplemental books about writing a personal statement or whatever you'll need more than a chapter to help you.

I liked this book very much. I got the book for a college class that I was taking and I found myself reading more than what was assigned to me by the teacher. The chapters flow together and you can even skip around if you want too. I refer to the book quite often. I am a biological science major and it tackles all the issues such as nuture vs. nature and even has a whole chapter devoted to the biology of Psychology. The book has many colorful pictures and test such as visual test. I recomend this book for anyone entering the helping profession.

I got exactly what I thought I was buying. This is a really convenient way to have a textbook, because you can just stick it in a three-ring binder and take it with you! Also, you can just take a few chapters if you want, or the whole book! The pages are a little thin, but it's a wonderful educational textbook. As a B.A. in psychology, I would recommend this book to anyone looking to have a great learning experience and a textbook that doesn't cost a fortune.

I'm using this textbook to teach an undergraduate introductory course. The text is engaging and interesting. I sometimes wonder about the organization of the chapters, though - it often seems a bit disjointed. br / br /As others have written, the CD-ROM is almost unusable. It will not run straight from the CD-ROM as it should on Windows XP - you need to hack into it by forcing your CD-ROM drive to show the files (right click, "browse..."), then choosing one of the .htm or .html files (I think "browser_check.html" was the one I succesfully used) to get it to function a little. Then you MIGHT be able to see the videos for each chapter - but even there, Quicktime often crashes. (I suspect the CD-ROM has not been updated for about 4 versions of Quicktime.) From what I could see from the videos, they are not terribly useful anyway, and I am not using them in my class - there is PLENTY of material on Youtube for this purpose. br / br /The Study Guide is only useful if you plan on memorizing each chapter word for word - some of the questions are ridiculously specific, and I would never, as an instructor, expect students to know this level of detail from the text. br / br /Oh, and the author does not even attempt to hide his liberal bias. Just ignore it (if you need to) and learn from his extensive knowledge.

This text is very well written and gives many great examples. I was disappointed with the lack of colored pics throughout text, but is very informative.

As someone who had never taken even a token psychology lesson before, I found this book very easy to digest. The author frequently gives real-life examples of what he is talking about, making it much easier to follow along with the sheer amount of jargon that the field employs. The modules are fairly short, making for reading sessions that don't leave you with a headache. Myers has a sense of humor as well, working jokes into the texts as well as including popular comic strips that illustrate what he's talking about.

When I first heard of "positive psychology" I thought..."so what is negative psychology supposed to be?" The terminology shouldn't hang you up. Positive psychology is a look a what psychology can be sans the illness orientation. What this means is that you are really studying how people can use their minds without concentrating on how that thing they do with their hair is an obvious sign of their insecurity, their masturbatory tendencies, or their love affair with their anal stage of development. The book has great information but is not written in a stuffy or pretentious way. Without a doubt it is one of the most readable psychology books I've ever had the pleasure of recommending. Even though the author supplies the reader with tons of references to help him in his continued study, for the casual reader this book can easily stand by itself. If you are lucky enough to get this as a text book in college enjoy the course and the professor wise enough to chose this book.

The book I ordered was exactly what I needed for my course and was in great condition as the seller said it would be. It was at a great price too. Shipping was quick too! I would buy from them again if they have a book I need. ^_^

Another great book that teaches how to use Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) effectively, among other things. I was especially grateful to have the perspective of a used-to-be skeptic who was involved in medical research and how he came to accept this new and usual technique. This book would be great for skeptical people who have doubt about this technique actually being able to work. If you even have a slight amount of hope that EFT and other energy healing techniques can help you, please read this book. I know without a doubt that the techniques work! Stick with it, find someone who is experienced to help you, but give it a try! What do you have to lose...other than a lot of negative baggage that is weighing you down?!

I have both Kaplan and The Princeton Review. I have studied from both. The latter is unprofessional in ways I would not expect from such a large company. Kaplan in comparison is actually quite good. It is detailed and has some reasonable explanations. If I had to pick one it would most definitely be Kaplan's.

Scam! - NOTHING changed from earlier editions.
Not a bad prep book, but every word of every page is the same as earlier editions. Only the cover is different. Get an earlier edition.
