This Book Made My Network as Strong as a Gorilla Anything with 'Guerrilla' in the title makes me want to know more, so I had to see what this book was all about. I contributed to Levinson's (and Perry's) upcoming book, the next installment of 'Guerrilla Marketing for Job Hunters' so I knew I was going to enjoy this one too. br / br /Like the other 'Guerrilla' books, it gives straightforward, no-nonsense advice on pinpointing your target contacts and dangling carrots to draw them in. I particularly like the success-stories and views from industry experts. br / br /The most important thing of all is that to make the most of this book, you have to work at it and apply the advice. It isn't a book to read and then put down. This is why it is so powerful!

One of the best networking books I have read, and the first book anybody should read on the subject. A very practical book that is easy to read. Mr. Mackay does a great a job in the using examples of great networkers such as - Larry King, Lou Holtz, and Muhammed Ali. This book is very entertaining helps you get out of your personal shell so to speak. I highly recommend.

This new fourth edition of Ms. Ivens best selling book has been expanded to cover the new Windows Vista operating system which has major changes and is up to date on Windows XP Service Pack 2 which again made changes in areas like security that could effect how your network runs. br / br /This is a basic introductory book that begins with what a network is and why you might need one. It starts with simple things like cables and NICs and goes on from there to start talking about the software, using Windows XP and Vista. (No Linux discussion.) br / br /It seems to me that there are three main reasons for having a home network: sharing printers, sharing files, and sharing a high speed internet connection. Chapter 9 is titles Printing Across the Network. Chapter 11 is Using Files from Other Computers. br / br /There's a little bit here and there on sharing an internet connection, but Ms. Ivens, should you read this, I suggest that in your Fifth edition you put in a special chapter on connecting to DSL/Cable. You can explain about the need for a high speed modem, a router/switch, etc. Yes, I know, the material for this is basically there, but a single chapter tieing it all together would be a help.

Many beginning network marketers are intimidated by the "marketing" word. This implies "selling", an even nastier word for those just entering the network marketing field. I have found this book to be useful in pointing out the effectiveness of networking, whether used to sell cosmetics or oneself. I feel that the value of reading the experiences of others in the networking garden (if done properly, it's not a jungle or an arena), gives a new network marketer confidence that they can "network". If they network effectively, a good product or service will sell itself

I really like this book, it covers a lot of territory in a very practical way, while also digging into the "why's" of things should be done the way Michael suggests. Understanding the "why's" is important so that if you want your site to do something different, you can make a good decision about the implementation. br / br /The book is also very "satisfying." I'm a deep technical person [...], though don't have much Drupal experience. I was afraid, I'd have to bite my tongue and toothpick my eyes open to read this book for the Drupal specifics. That's not been the case. It's an easy read, interesting, and relevant. I'm currently thinking about a few new social projects, and while I wouldn't go so far to say that you should read this book whatever platform you are deploying on; I would say that you should consider prototyping on Drupal with this book in hand so you could make a better platform decision once you know more about building a social site. (sorry about the run-on sentence!).

Very helpful and current for individuals who are interested in wireless or wired home networking. I found the book to be an excellent resource and covered my particular situation. The book provided sufficient detail to understand the basics and also provided technical detail that was understandable by a layperson. The author has the ability to make complex subjects understandable and provides numerous practical tips.

Diane cuts straight to the most important obstacles some people have to networking: br / br /"It feels shmoozy and disingenuous." br /"I feel like I would be using people or taking advantage of them" br /"I never know what to say." br /"I feel like I'd be intruding on them" br / br /Diane's book cuts straight to those objections, explains why they are only sometimes true, and outlines a very specific path for how to be a genuine, helpful, positive networker that adds value to everyone they meet. She shows that networking isn't for sleezeballs - it's for people who want to help others, people who have more to give to life than just a 9-to-5, and who want to build more meaningful relationships, principally
