Body & Spirit Ebooks

I received this book as part of a gift package from the Body Shop, and I wasn't expecting much. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that this is an extremely well-thought out book appropriate for beginners to more advanced levels. The book begins by reviewing some of the basic tenats of yoga, including the importance of breathing as well as the purpose of the healing chakras located throughout the body. It then goes on to introduce the sun salutation series, a basic series of poses which forms the foundation of most practices. pFollowing this, the book is divided into approximately 20 chapters, with each chapter containing instructions for approximately 4-5 poses centered around a particular theme. For example, the "Renewal" practice is a series of poses which can be done at your desk to restore your energy while you are at work, the "Stability"

This book is a gem simply for providing a detailed glimpse of the historical, social, political, and religious landscapes that surrounded the actual "event" of the apparitions. The author takes the figure of Bernadette and 'Aquero' firmly out of the strictly pious, sentimental realm and places them firmly in the realm of their time and circumstances--all without denying the events their fair sense of mystery. An important work that finally begins to give Lourdes its scholarly due in the secular sphere as well the religious.

There once was a bodybuilder named Zane, br /Who was not only well muscled but also had a brain, br /He studied meditation, Eastern Philosophy, and transformative psychology br /But as much as he wanted to br /His poetry was about as good as doggie poo... br / br /Yes, folks, in this rather informative book by Frank Zane, you will not only get a glimpse into his soul, you'll also get a glimpse of what an absolutely horrible poet Frank Zane is. br / br /I like Frank, I do. In fact, when I was really into bodybuilding, he was my hero. I liked him even more than Arnold because he wasn't just a big glob of muscle. He posessed an intelligence as well as an elegance and in my opinion, really raised the bar of modern bodybuilding. Unfortunately, ever since Zane retired in the mid 80s, the sport has, in my opinion, regressed to where mass is king and everything else, like symmetry, definition, and muscle shape are thrown by the wayside. br / br /I also like Zane because he isn't afraid to express his intelligence. He is deeply into meditation and visualization. Some bodybuilders will never learn that it's not the body, but the mind that creates the most lasting gains. I have had to learn to leave my ego outside the gym, because if I'm just pushing huge poundages around, I'm inviting injury and I've already had surgery on my knee as well as my back and I kind of would like to stay out of the operating room for the rest of my stint here on this planet. br / br /This book gives a full year of training routines that actually work and do not lead to burnout. Of course, you may like spending two hours a day in the gym, but I don't. Been there, done that. I'm 42 years old. I have a life. I know that I'm never going to be in the kind of shape I was when I was 23-25, but that's okay.

Simply terrible. A complete waste of money as I felt the author was just trying to talk over my head, and she succeeded. br / br /Don't waste your money

The thing is, not all books about spirit mediumship are hoaxes like this one. Some might be true, or at least partially true. This one is a complete hoax, a purposeful hoax, guilty of premeditated lying. br / br /How do I know? The way it kisses up to the world's religions. It says that in the afterlife there are Christmas and Easter celebrations, and lots of prayers for the pope, like the pope is something special, which he is not. In the same breath they tell us that they have no idea what day it is on earth, what year it is on earth, so how the hell do they know when it is Christmas? br / br /Also, they tell us that spirits in the afterlife are composed of energy and color, not physical bodies, and next thing you know, they are telling us that they dress like us, that they look exactly like they did on earth. You can't have it both ways. br / br /The main thing that utterly convinced me that this book is a complete hoax is when they referred to the perfect people who are on such a high spiritual level, and those perfect people are "JC, Moses and Mohammed". Baloney. One of the three was a bloodthirsty warlord. Perfect? I wouldn't say so. Just pandering to religions. br / br /This book has the nerve to tell us about demon possession and multiple personalities. Sorry, no. This fraud of a book doesn't know anything about these subjects. br / br /It is all organized in too "pat" a manner. It reads like a novel. That's because it is a novel. I really resent people lying to me like this. br / br /In the early chapters of the book it had me going, it had me hoping that it was real. I believe in spirit mediumship. Rather, I know it is possible and I know that some people do it very well. Lisa Williams and John Edward are excellent spirit mediums, and I think Rosemary Altea is too. [...]

I just love this book. It is a devotional to your well being. A lot of the health and spiritual advice that is floating around in condensed in this book. Plus Victoria Moran is a good writer and seems to be such a positive person. I have read many of her books and always felt more empowered after finishing them.

Until I read this book I hadn't the foggiest notion of what evolutionary psychology is. Bob Weber opened the doors to this discipline with his first rate book. I was intrigued by a psychologist who places great emphasis on the spiritual domain as well as who can write clearly and engagingly for the non-specialist. The chapter on body-piercing and tatoos is worth the price of the book alone. I also was taken with his notion of the need for "spiritual architects" who might assist people trying to develop a spiritual life. Perhaps the most significant trait exhibited in this book is Weber's openess to multiple disciplines-it is nice to find an authority who is not authoritarian.

This is a very good book to help anyone learn about expressive arts and to use them for healing of self or for others. Simple and yet deep at the same time. Ganim takes us on a jouney and show us how to approach our emotions through the art work. The examples of visual pieces are just wonderful. br / br /Excellent for individual work, group therapy, and most definitely children. This book is a very fast read and you may find yourself flying a little to fast through the pages...but I would have to say this is a worthy book to any clinician or client who want to gain understanding for themselves and others.

We've all heard the saying: "it's all in your head" many times before. But as much as we try to calm ourselves over certain matters, it does no good in relieving us of physical symptoms. This does not in any way mean that no illnesses aren't psychosomatic in origin though. The body is so complex that we are simply not aware of the exact origin of our illnesses. br / br /After reading this book as well as "Molecules of Emotion" by Candice Pert, I'm thoroughly convinced that most of peoples illnesses have a psychosomatic origin. Martin Rush makes no hard and fast claims and does not claim to have all of the answers. In fact, he put a disclaimer in the front
