Animals eBook
|
This book made me a vegetarian, because it made me aware of all the cruelty that is imposed on animals. Ethically, this is not justified by no means at all. If man is supposed to be the superior animal, then why should he treat animals as if they were objects ? br / br /Never before in human history have we eaten so much meat, but not only do the poor animals suffer in their cages, also the people eating this "artificial" meat are suffering, because a big load of pesticides, antibiotics, hormones, etc. are delivered together with the "food". br / br /Now, I didn't become a vegetarian immediately after reading this book, but its arguments percolated through my conscience and finally did me made the final step, eliminating meat altogether from my menu. This was 5 years ago. It is best to do this gradually. I would also recommend anybody willing to take this step to take a vitamin B12 supplement (under the form of complex B) to feel great, since vitamin B12 is only present in animal foods.

This is a cute little book and a nice size for a toddler to tote around. It is not one of my toddler's favorites and I have seen much better animal books, but it's still sweet.

The idea for this book is simple but hillarious. The book contains 20 or 30 "postcards" (which you can leave in the book or tear out and send to people) with very cute pictures of baby animals and a "bad news" caption at the bottom, such as the example given on the front of the book. The combination of pictures of kittens and bunnys with things like "The Donor Backed Out", "Your Babies Ugly" and "It's Malignant" really are a hillarious contrast. br / br /Great to look through when you need a laugh.

A few months after reading this book, my mom's cat, who was born in her backyard and has lived his whole life there, wondered off while she had him on vacation at her beach house. She was distraught and so was I. For a month we tried to accept that we'd likely never see him again. I just couldn't give up though. Using the lessons in this book, I tried to help him find his way back to the house (while I was 1500 miles away). Almost a month to the day from when he started his beach adventure, my mom found him walking toward her house from the bushes across the street. Ever since then, whenever I visit, the cat that was nothing but aloof and skittish around me, cuddles with me whenever he can.

I thought the book was okay, but it might be more suitable for small kids. Some of the poems had made up words that were kind of like Dr. Suess type words. That's why I think little kids would like it better. br / br /I did like Eric Carle's art in the book, and every poem had a picture with it that was colorful. I think it would be a good book for my little cousins because it was about animals and most of the poems were short so they won't get bored.

I purchased this book after having read Animal Farm some time ago in high school. However I had not read 1984, and the concepts it revolved around fascinated me. After reading the book, I can quite easily see why it is a classic. br / br /Orwell paints a splendid picture of a world that we would like to avoid, and in doing so he raises our consciousness to the far reaching implications it has in a modern society. It is a beautifully written reminder about the dangers of conformity, in the face of imposed authority, and dishonest media.

I'm a senior anthro student who had to read this for Biobehavioral Anthropology. The book has some interesting ideas and facts about Darwin's life. However it often goes off on a tangent to prove an isolated point and is oddly written (do you want to read an entire book like this in parenthesis)?

I cried after reading this book. It was so moving. Jennings, the main character, was amazing. I started reading ot right after it came in the mail and i finished it in one day. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to read a real book, one that makes you aware of the things going on in this world. After reading this book, I'm going to strive to be the best person that I can and not judge people by their looks. I'm going help as many people as I can. This book is just so inspirational. Please read this book. It will change your outlook on life for the better.

this book has really easy to follow step by step instructions that walk you through drawing all kinds of different animals. There is a cat, lion, rabbit, dolphin, monkey, lizard, teddy bear, hen, tiger, frog, horse, turtle, flamingo, reindeer, and a bee. Most drawings are only 4-5 steps each. br /My 4 year old was easily able to follow the instructions. Steps are numbered so no reading is required. This is a great book and lots of fun

I recently bought this book because I had wanted to teach my preschoolers about the different instruments. This book works for preschoolers on up to about 3rd grade. The tracks go along with sections in the book that are specific to that part of the music and the animal it portrays. The text can be modified to meet your needs and the language was just right for my 3 and 4 year olds who soon were able to catch on to the instruments they were hearing. Later when I put the CD on for them they would stop and yell out the animal or instrument they were hearing. I am glad to have this in my collection for future classes.
